Proud to Give Back to the Indianapolis Community
After Robin Run Village’s successful fundraising campaign in 1984, Senator Richard Luger said, “An important theme of American life is that citizens of great experience want to give that experience to their community.” That message still resonates strongly with our residents, who readily embrace opportunities to live a purposeful life. From events in Indianapolis to those within Robin Run Village, our resident volunteers go above and beyond to seek out new ways to give back and help others.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Every September, our staff, residents and their family members take part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This event helps to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care, and support. While it varies from year to year, our volunteers typically raise around $2,500 to $3,000 to help support the cause.
Riley Hospital for Children
Members of our Crochet Club work together every month to crochet baby hats, booties, and blankets for the intensive care unit at the Riley Hospital for Children. Every quarter, they donate about 10 to 15 sets of these items so the babies can experience a little extra comfort during their hospital stay.
Pike Township Metropolitan School District
The Robin Run Village campus is adjacent to several schools in the Pike Township Metropolitan School District. This has made it very easy for our residents to work with students on a variety of projects. With the Helping One Student to Success (HOSTS) program, residents help kindergarteners to fifth graders every week with tasks like reading, spelling, and strategic thinking processes. There’s also an annual art show designed to foster students’ creativity. Complete with an art walk reception, students and residents have the opportunity to show off their work to the community.
Green Team
Our Green Team has been leading the charge when it comes to making our campus more environmentally friendly. Thanks to their efforts, every resident trash area includes recycling. Green products, like energy efficient lightbulbs and recyclable to-go containers, have become the norm. In addition, they have won two awards from the state for their work in putting together shred-it and electronic recycling days for residents and their families. Together with Pike High School students, they hold special Earth Day celebrations with tree plantings and other fun activities. The Green Team is always looking for ways to protect the environment for generations to come.
Louis Evans Scholarship
Every year, many Robin Run Village residents generously contribute to the Louis Evans Scholarship fund. This fund provides financial assistance to employees who want to pursue additional education to develop and advance their careers. We are thankful to have so many thoughtful residents who value our employees and want to support them in achieving their personal and professional goals.
